Event Details
Join naturalist & photographer George Luther for this 3-hour basic photography workshop as you walk along the Bird Rookery Swamp Trails. Limited to 10 hikers.
AUDIENCE: adults; intended for “point & shoot” digital camera users; cell phone users, beginners, even those with sophisticated cameras.
PROGRAM GOALS: To introduce persons who are new to using point & shoot cameras, or who are new to nature photography, to the basic camera techniques that will produce photographs that are pleasing and are worth framing.
This program will focus on producing great pictures regardless of the sophistication, cost, or amount of your photography equipment.
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Desire to learn;
- Ability to be on your feet/walk for 3 hours;
- Have and bring a functioning camera;
- Have extra batteries for your camera;
- Consider the need for hydration, sunscreen, bug repellent, clothing and footwear appropriate for walking in wooded and possibly wet areas;
- Bring plastic bag(s) to protect equipment from rain;
OPTIONAL: bring tripod or monopod.

Is there an age limit for the event?
This workshop is for adults.
What are the parking/facilities like at the event?
There is a gravel parking lot at the trailhead. There is one portable restroom at the trailhead.
What are the trails like?
The trails are mostly grassy/sandy ground level trails with some boardwalk sructures over wet areas. Expect seasonlly wet/muddy places on the trails during the rainy season (July - November).
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes. You may give your spot to someone else. Be sure to change the information on your registration page or call us at 239-657-2253.
Can I update my registration information?
Yes, you may update your registration information up to one day before the event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No. We do not issue print tickets. Simply check in with the event leader at the time of the event.
